Welcome to the Lake Edun Blog!
Sheri
My name is Sheri, and I am the current Board President for the Lake Edun Foundation. Thank you for joining us as we venture further into the social media world and attempt our first blog.
My First Time Experience
Alex
So I’m Alex… This is my first time experience. I had never been to any social naturist/nudist place before. It was always private, alone, and usually after dark.
I originally planned on first visiting Lake Edun on a good weather weekday, when there wouldn’t be so many people. I had been reading the website constantly, and knew that I wanted to visit, if not join. I just wanted to read my book and drink some beers, sans clothes, with the latter being out of the norm for me. However, when I saw 95 degree weather in the forecast for Saturday the 6th of May, I couldn’t resist. I knew that I was going to visit, and would probably become a member, so I just jumped in, not knowing what to expect.
Public Nudity:
A Woman’s Perspective
Michelle Barrett
My two experiences of public nudity were on opposite ends of the spectrum. But they revealed common truths.
My first was as a skydiver. It was always joked about, that a skydiver’s 100th skydive needed to be a naked one. Often, jumpers would get skydive friends to join in the nakedness. Not being an exhibitionist myself, I still wanted to experience it. The thought of being able to feel the balance, wind and exposure on ALL my skin, was truly exciting.
My First Time at Lake Edun:
A Naturist Experience
Michelle Barrett
When my sister, soon-to-be President of Lake Edun Foundation, asked me to come visit her beloved clothing-free lake, I agreed with only mild hesitation. I’ve jumped out of airplanes a few hundred times (once nude), so I figured I could handle a naturist experience. Plus, I’ve always been a nature lover, camping enthusiast, and admirer of Mother Nature’s creations. All of them. Including us humans.
My Path to Lake Edun
Sheri
My first naturist experience happened as a direct result of my reentry into the dating world and my sarcastic wit. I met a man online, who has since become a true friend of mine, and we were engaging in that initial communication period in which two people are getting to know each other. I don’t remember what we were discussing at that particular moment, but I ended my text with the words, “I should be a nudist.” I almost fell off my chair laughing when I got his response…..“I am a nudist.”
First Time Eduners:
Aaron & Lisa
Aaron & Lisa C
Last winter we moved from the country, with multiple acres, to the middle of the city. Lisa had always enjoyed soaking up the sun in the nude, but city dwelling doesn’t lend itself to that. Not wanting to give it up, she suggested we venture out to Lake Edun. Covid was also just ramping up so we couldn’t do much else. We had known of Lake Edun, but never seriously considered it. Aaron was up for a new experience, so we made a plan to head out the next weekend.
How Do You Feel About Being Nude?
Families and Nudity
By Michelle Barrett
Feelings about public nudity, especially in America where nudity is unnecessarily and incessantly sexualized, can vary widely. All families are different, and our attitudes and feelings about our own nudity are almost always inherited from our parents. If we had open and free parents who accepted their own bodies and didn’t think it was a big deal to occasionally appear nude in front of their children, we will most likely be the same type of parent.
Becoming Nude:
Preparing for a Visit to Lake Edun
By Michelle Barrett
Nudism and naturism are lifestyles in which our natural bodies, sans clothes, are accepted and even celebrated. Both words mean basically the same thing: “the practice of going nude, especially in places that allow sexually mixed groups, in the belief that such practice benefits health.” Naturism emphasizes the same freedom of going clothes less, but with more focus on the outdoors and appreciating being part of nature.
My Sauna Experience
Dave D
I was asked to write a short story about the benefits of a sauna and thought the best way to start would be to explain a little about my first sauna experience. I was not raised a naturist and had never been a part of the naturist scene. I had often gone to a gym when I was younger and was not unfamiliar with locker rooms and nudity in them. But I was not accustomed to coed nudity with strangers which made my decision to attend a sauna a little scary … and a little exciting.
Our First Fisit to Lake Edun
Edison Bruce
My wife Christine and I visited Lake Edun for the first time last weekend, and we were completely awed by the experience. Since this was also our first visit to a clothing-free location of any kind, we were excited and a bit nervous. We are usually nude at home, and are accustomed to performing daily activities without clothes, but we had never had the opportunity to do so in a social environment.
Shame the Dividing Barrier! Nudism from a Christian Perspective
Greg Cook
Can a Christian, or anybody else for that matter, be a nudist (or naturist)? Let us take time to examine the truth found in God’s Word, the Bible. It is the final authority in any matter, at least for the Christian, and we must abide by whatever it says.
The idea behind nudism is to say, “as I stand here naked, even before others, I’m not afraid to be all that I am,” and to understand that the nude human body is not indecent. It is part of the person. Nudism is based on openness, honesty, and trust. Some people use nudism to fulfill their sexual lusts, and evil desires, but as a man of God, I stand against them. I am thoroughly opposed to their misuse of this wholesome way of life.
I Had a First Last Weekend…
Jack Armstrong
Before I begin, I must mention that 2 years ago I was diagnosed with inoperable cancer and should have died before 1998 came around. Well, things didn’t work out that way and I made liars out of the doctors. In February of 1998, after 4 months of chemo and 25 radiation treatments I learned my cancer was in remission … and it still is. At that point, my wife and I decided when an opportunity arose, we would start doing the things that we always wanted to do.
In the past we have visited nude beaches but we have never gone to a nudist club, resort or anything like that. That is something I have wanted to do since I first heard about nudism, when I was about 10 years old. Well, I have been to Lake Edun now and it was a first for me. The following is the story about my “1st”.Last Thursday afternoon I learned Friday was going to be a totally free day off for me. My wife asked me what I was going to do. After some thought I said, “Why don’t you take the day off and let’s go to Topeka to visit Lake Edun together?” Well, she had several appointments that day and was not able to take off. Believe it or not, she said that I should go on over and check it out.
