Clearly, Winter is finally upon us. Snow, freezing rain, and ice are becoming familiar sights once again. This will make our first Annual (hopefully) Polar Bare Plunge particularly interesting.
Polar Bare Plunge
So far, close to a dozen intrepid Eduners have committed to participate. We expect a few more will show up ready to make the full-body commitment.
This is a charity fundraiser to support Race Against Breast Cancer. We will clear any ice so participants can jump directly into the water and, hopefully, climb out of the lake to warm up in front of a bonfire or in the sauna. (Use of the sauna will be restricted to participants ONLY.)
For this first year, we are hoping to present a check to RABC for a minimum of $500. This, of course, is dependant upon the generosity of our members and any pledges received by those taking the plunge.
If you want to help us reach our goal but are unable to be on hand to enjoy the festivities, you can still make a contribution on our website. Just click on this link or go to https://www.lakeedun.com/shop/. Scroll to the bottom of that page and make a donation in increments of $10. From today until January 16, we will presume all donations are intended for RABC. And, of course, all donations can be deducted from you income taxes next year.
Plan to be on hand for this event. Festivities will begin this Saturday, January 9, at 2pm.
Board Meeting
Your Board of Directors will have their monthly meeting this Sunday. As we conveyed in a previous email, there are many plans for the coming season: Open Houses; Full Moon Floats; Women’s Afternoons; and a summer festival. If there are any activities you believe we should include, please let us know by replying to this email.
A number of additional activities could be added to the calendar if we have someone to organize them: World Naked Gardening Day (5/1); International Skinny Dipping Day (7/10). Some communities host a Naked Bike Ride but there is no single date agreed upon. In the past, we have twice hosted a successful series of Naked Plays. If you find any of these ideas intriguing or have an idea of your own and wish to become involved, please let us know.
The only way for the board to make good plans, is for the membership to make good suggestions. We’d like to hear from you.
Website
After well over a decade of dedication to the Lake Edun Foundation, Gary has handed maintenance of our website to Dusty. Thank you, Gary, for your help.
Dusty has been learning and working and expects to roll out some new features soon. One being considered is a blog where members can post a write up about their first nude experience in a public place. We believe this will be a good way for others considering a visit to our special place to realize their apprehensions are not unique. Dust off your memory and get ready to make a contribution to our website. It may influence others to give it a try. Below is an example from one of this year’s visitors.
Don’t Forget
There are only 6 dozen days until the first day of Spring which marks the end of this year’s membership discount. If saving 10% on the cost of a full year membership or renewal interests you, plan to act before March 20.
So far, seven Eduners have signed up to help with the Winter Warriors. This is an active group of Eduners who take advantage of the cooler months without ticks, chiggers, and Poison Ivy to complete many of the tasks required to keep our special place truly special. Since the days we can actually get things done are necessarily weather dependent, we cannot plan these very far in advance; it is always done with just a day or two notice by email. If you are interested in joining this group and haven’t signed up, get on the list by replying to this email.
First Time Experience
It was great going to Lake Edun for the first time today, which just happened to be a gorgeous afternoon. Thanx to Webb for meeting me there. I also met Tedd just as I was leaving. Both great representatives of Edun.
With being an hour away and with my crazy [work] and Family schedules, I have to do a serious cost to benefit analyses.
I do love being able to be nude out in the open without feeling like I have to keep looking over my shoulder in case someone catches me. Not having to hike at night was great also. Getting sun on all parts of the body made me feel like I was getting my proper dosage of Vitamin D.
The lake was refreshing. Yes I did go in; the cold water was great on my back and knee. I dried off quickly since I didn’t have anything textile on. I did not like having to clothe before leaving, but clothes must be worn in the textile world.
There is a lot to think about and I appreciated being able to check the property out. BTW, this was just my second visit to any Nudist/Naturist Club and I felt just as comfortable as the first location..
Thank you once again for this great day at Lake Edun.
